Jambo and welcome to the first day in Naicef’s Samburu Astro-tourism packages!
The first day starts with a pick up from either Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) or the staying hotel. Receive a warm welcome from Naicef’s professional tour guide who will give you a brief of the unique tour of the Stargazing safaris in Samburu.
Transfer from the airport or hotel to the next destination, the famous home of the special five animals of Kenya, the Samburu National Reserve. The journey takes 5-6 hours.
Enjoy Kenya’s beautiful scenery (if you are travelling by road to the reserve). If you are travelling by flight, enjoy the beautiful aerial view of Kenya’s landscape as you see the interesting divisions of the Kenyan lands over the clouds.
After your experiential journey, arrive at the Samburu National Reserve. Check in at the Samburu Sopa Lodge. Familiarise yourself with the lodge, relax as you enjoy the scenic views from your room.
Have lunch at the lodge.
The evening awaits with a guided stargazing session, which Naicef’s Samburu Astro-tourism packages include.
Learn from the locals about the star patterns in relation to the African mythology from the Samburu perspective on the constellations.
Enjoy a dinner campfire with African tales and interesting stories, which can be shared between the guide and guests.
Afterwards, return to the lodge for the night in readiness for the next day.
Naicef’s second day Stargazing safaris in Samburu starts with an early morning game drive inside the reserve. Spot the special five animals of Kenya, including Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich and Beisa Oryx.
Naicef’s professional tour guide drives you through the green reserve meandered by the Ewaso Nyiro River. Guests are in luck if they see a herd of Elephants wallowing in the river and hear their trumpet sounds!
After the experiential morning, return to the lodge for breakfast in readiness for another noonday experience.
Return to the reserve to spot the animals at noon or experience a walking safari in the reserve.
Return to the lodge for a nutritious lunch as you relax in readiness for an afternoon cultural experience.
After lunch, visit the Samburu community and learn about the Samburu culture. Sing, dance, laugh and immerse yourself in the Samburu cultural traditions.
As the evening approaches, the sky starts to give a glimpse of what to expect for the night. Moreover, the Samburu people will educate guests on the sky patterns at night and answer all the guests’ burning questions.
When the sky is blanketed with stars, guests can participate in the Astrophotography workshops in Samburu, learning how to capture the night sky and take pictures of it.
Camp over the bonfire with endless stories and have a 3D view of how the stars move and glitter above your heads. Therefore, guests get to see why Samburu is one of the best places to stargaze in Kenya.
Afterwards, return to the lodge for the night in readiness for the next day.
The final day of the Samburu stargazing tour package starts with optional activities such as guided nature walks, bird watching or a game drive.

Freshen up and relax at the lodge before departure hours. Afterwards, guests check out from the lodge as they capture the last views of the animals and the reserve.
