Depart from Nairobi to begin your journey for the Mount Longonot day trip.
See scenic views of Nairobi waking up and the Great Rift Valley as you drive along the highway.
Arrival at Mount Longonot National Park Gate
Upon arrival at the park gate, check in and get briefed by the guide.
Take some time to stretch, hydrate, and prepare for the hike.
Start the Hike to the Crater Rim (3.1 km)
Afterwards, start the hike from the base to the crater rim. It’s a slow but tough walk on a dusty and steep trail.
On your way, enjoy the scenic views and spot wildlife sightings like zebras, monkeys, and birds.
Reach the Crater Rim
On reaching the top of the crater, take a well-deserved break, rehydrate, and enjoy the panoramic views of the crater floor and the expansive Rift Valley landscape.
During the midday hours, you will begin a Crater Rim Loop Hike, which is optional, covering a distance of 7.2 km.
Start hiking around the crater rim for a full experience. This part is more challenging with ups and downs, but it offers breathtaking views and a great sense of adventure.
Later that afternoon, complete the Rim Hike & Rest at the Summit
After finishing the rim loop, take a break at the highest point. Enjoy snacks, take group photos, and relax before descending.
Start Descending the Mountain
Begin the hike back to the park gate. The descent is steep but offers great views.
Walk slowly to avoid slips and take short rests as needed.
End of Hike & Depart from the Park
At 4.30 pm, the students board the bus and leave for school with memorable educational experiences, feeling accomplished and refreshed after the adventure.
